Independent First Aid Trainer (Freelance) - Scotland
Swiis Foster Care Scotland is seeking an experienced Freelance First Aid Trainer to join our Training Team and deliver engaging, high-quality First Aid training to foster carers across Scotland.
Training sessions are typically 3 hours in duration and are delivered either virtually via Zoom or face-to-face in Glasgow, Dunfermline, and Dundee. Therefore, applicants must be willing and able to travel to these locations to deliver training.
As part of our commitment to supporting foster carers and improving outcomes for children and young people, you will deliver training using Swiis-developed materials and programmes. Full guidance, support, and training on our content and delivery approach will be provided.
Training schedules are planned six months in advance and are based around trainer availability. Additional ad hoc sessions may occasionally be required.
The successful candidate will be available on an ongoing freelance basis for approximately one weekday session per month, with occasional sessions during school holidays and Saturdays.
Independent Trainer Essential Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years' experience delivering First Aid training to adults in a professional setting.
- Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET), or equivalent teaching/training qualification.
- Current First Aid at Work (FAW) certificate (Level 3 or equivalent).
- Current Paediatric First Aid certificate (Level 3 or equivalent).
- Demonstrable competence to deliver First Aid training, such as:
- First Aid Trainer qualification; or
- Relevant clinical qualification (e.g., Registered Nurse, Paramedic, Doctor); or
- Evidence of substantial first aid training delivery experience.
- Public Liability Insurance and Professional Indemnity Insurance appropriate for freelance training delivery.
- Access to suitable first aid training equipment, including adult, child, and infant CPR manikins, AED training unit, and first aid training resources.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to deliver engaging training both virtually (Zoom) and face-to-face.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries when working with children, young people, and foster carers.
- Ability to work in the UK.

Desirable:
- Membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme, or willingness to join.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
- Experience delivering training via Zoom or other virtual learning platforms.
- Experience working with foster carers, social care professionals, parents, carers, or young people.
- Knowledge of fostering, safeguarding, child protection, and relevant Scottish legislation and guidance.

Job Type: Freelance Contract (Part-Time)
Rate: From £200 per training session (virtual or face-to-face) plus mileage.
