Independent Living Officer
X1 Part-Time (18.5 hours per week)
X1 Full-Time (37 hours per week)

We're looking for two enthusiastic and compassionate Independent Living Officers to join our Independent Living Team. In this rewarding role, you'll help customers maintain their independence, wellbeing and quality of life through high-quality housing management and support services. Working collaboratively with our wider Independent Living Service and 24/7 Carecall Response Team, you'll deliver a flexible, person-centred approach to supporting customers with a range of needs to achieve positive outcomes.
As part of this role, you'll support the delivery of our Extra Care Housing service at Brookhead Lodge in Cheadle, a 49-apartment scheme designed to help people with medium to high care needs live independently. You'll also oversee the Extra Care Register on behalf of Stockport Council and support the assessment and allocation of Extra Care Housing, helping ensure customers can access the right accommodation and support when they need it.
What you'll be doing
- Supporting customers to maintain their independence and sustain their tenancies.
- Building positive relationships with customers, colleagues and partner agencies.
- Completing tenancy visits, risk assessments and wellbeing checks.
- Encouraging customer engagement and involvement in shaping services.
- Ensuring properties and communal areas remain safe, secure and well maintained.
- Maintaining accurate records and working in line with policies, procedures and GDPR requirements.
- Working flexibly to support colleagues and meet the needs of the service.

About you
We're looking for someone who:
- Has experience supporting vulnerable customers and helping people achieve positive outcomes.
- Demonstrates empathy, resilience and a creative approach to problem solving.
- Builds strong professional relationships and communicates effectively with a wide range of people.
- Has a sound understanding of professional boundaries and safeguarding responsibilities.
- Can confidently manage challenging situations and resolve complex or sensitive issues professionally.
- Is organised, able to manage their own workload and maintain accurate records.
- Is comfortable using a range of IT systems and applications.
- Holds a full UK driving licence and has access to a vehicle.
