Role Overview
We are seeking three Independent Living Officers (two permanent and one fixed term until 31/3/28) to join our team. You will work directly with residents to ensure their housing needs are met while supporting them to achieve greater independence. This is a varied and rewarding role, offering the opportunity to make a real difference in people’s lives.
Key Responsibilities
- Use your initiative, resolving day-to-day issues.
- Mainly working at sites alone (although working within guidelines) where you will have your own designated office.
- Regular meetings with your line manager plus contact with other members of the team daily.
- Remain effective and calm if emergencies arise.

Requirements
- Must be able to relate to people at all levels, including those with complex needs.
- Excellent, diplomatic, and clear communication skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate computerized records and write clear and concise reports in accordance with our policies and procedures, plus always maintaining confidentiality.
- Applicants must have a driving license that is valid in the UK.
Enhanced Check
An Enhanced check will be undertaken with the Disclosure and Barring Service to ensure that the successful candidate has no relevant convictions.

The Council is going through a major change as part of Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) and devolution. This means that the district and borough councils in Hertfordshire will be replaced by a smaller number of new unitary councils.

If you join Dacorum Borough Council between now and 31 March 2028, you will move to a new organisation on 1 April 2028. Your role will transfer to the new authority, but the way you work and who you report to may change.
