About the Opportunity

Derby ONE is the local commercial radio station for Derby and the surrounding area. We are expanding our commercial footprint. We are looking for an independent, driven Media Sales Executive to lead local and regional B2B sales by pitching our airtime and sponsorship packages.

This is a 100% commission-based, self-employed freelance role offering a flat 25% cut on all closed deals. It is designed for a self-starter who wants uncapped earning potential, total schedule flexibility, and a supportive environment without the restrictions of a traditional 9-to-5.

How We Support You

We treat our independent, self-employed freelance team as partners:

  • Targeted Lead Support: We actively provide suggested businesses and "hit lists" to help your cold outreach.
  • Deal Flexibility: You have a standard rate card but the autonomy and guidelines to negotiate and structure deals to get them across the line.
  • Zero Fulfillment Hassle: You close the deal; our team handles all the invoicing, creative, scriptwriting, and production.
  • The Right Tools: You receive a professional company email address and access to Basecamp for seamless pipeline tracking and team collaboration.
  • Team Culture: We hold regular team meetings. Attendance is completely optional, as an independent self-employed freelancer, you are your own boss, but you are always welcome to drop in, share ideas, and connect with the station.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
