Salary: £27,262
Contract: Permanent / Full-Time/ 36 Hours per week
Working Hours: Monday to Friday. Flexibility in working hours is required to accommodate school start and finish times (Outside of normal office hours).
Location: Bromley Civic Centre and out in the community
Working Pattern: The Admissions and Transport Team is based in the Civic Centre, but the team has flexibility for working in the office in addition to working from home.

Are you able to plan prepare and support people with the safe use of public transport and pedestrian safety?
We are seeking an Independent Travel Trainer to support children, young people and adult’s resident in the London Borough of Bromley with accessing their place of learning and/or day centres. This is rewarding work that will help children and adults with additional needs to travel independently to and from school/college and appropriate day care settings.
The postholder will work with the Travel Training Co-Ordinator, School Transport Operations Manager and the Admissions and Transport Services Manager to further develop and deliver the travel training programme across Bromley.
Duties will include the planning and risk assessing of safe travel arrangements, implementing control measures to maintain strong safety driven procedures for children and young people whilst out in the community. The postholder will also need to regularly monitor and evaluate the child/young person’s progress and keep accurate evidence to provide positive and constructive feedback to young people, their families, and schools in relation to their training.

Strong communication skills (written and oral) and excellent interpersonal skills are required to work with families and schools to deliver travel training and to build good working relationships and trust. This will involve meetings with families to discuss travel training for their child, meetings with schools and presenting information to senior colleagues as required.
The postholder will need to have strong organisational skills and be able to work independently with minimal daily supervision, manage their own workload and prioritise referrals effectively.
This role will be expected to engage with any professional networks of travel trainers to ensure best practice is maintained including the development and continual improvements of policies and procedures.
This is a full-time position within the Admissions and Transport Team based in the Civic Centre, but the team has flexibility for working in the office in addition to working from home.
This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check
