Position Overview
We’re hiring for an Indirect Buyer to support Procurement objectives through the effective management of indirect suppliers, commodities, and services to ensure business continuity, cost control, and operational support. The role is responsible for day-to-day tactical procurement activities, including purchase order placement, ERP-driven action messages, supplier follow-up, pricing management, invoice resolution, and stakeholder support.
In this position you will manage supplier performance, support cost reduction initiatives, address supply and service risks, and ensure procurement activities are executed in alignment with Parker-Meggitt policies, processes, compliance requirements, and operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage assigned indirect supplier relationships to ensure service, cost, delivery, quality, and responsiveness targets are achieved.
- Resolve or escalate supplier and internal issues efficiently to minimise business disruption.
- Manage procurement parameters such as supplier agreements, lead times, minimum order quantities, delivery frequency, and service levels.
- Ensure supplier compliance with agreed contractual terms, procurement policies, and applicable flow-down requirements.
- Support annual cost reduction initiatives, minimise supplier cost increases, and contribute to Purchase Price Index performance for assigned indirect categories and suppliers.
- Identify and manage supply or service continuity risks across indirect categories, including facilities, MRO, tooling, services, office supplies, IT, and other non-production requirements. Develop and support mitigation actions to meet internal customer needs.
- Monitor market conditions, supplier capacity, pricing trends, and service risks to proactively identify potential business impact and support mitigation planning.
- Manage daily indirect procurement activities, including purchase requisition review, purchase order placement, order follow-up, expediting/de-expediting, cancellations, invoice issues, pricing discrepancies, supplier communications, and resolution of goods or service-related issues.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
