As part of their ongoing growth strategy, they are looking to appoint an ambitious and commercially-minded Senior Buyer to play a key role in the procurement function.

Your New Role

This is an opportunity to take ownership of strategic procurement activities within a complex manufacturing environment where supplier performance, quality, cost, and compliance are critical to success.

Working closely with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Production, and Supply Chain teams, you'll drive sourcing initiatives, secure best-in-class supplier partnerships, and support both operational delivery and future product development programmes.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Leading end-to-end sourcing activities across indirect spend categories
  • Identifying, assessing, and onboarding high-performing suppliers
  • Managing RFQs, tenders, and complex commercial negotiations
  • Delivering cost reduction and value engineering initiatives
  • Building long-term supplier partnerships while driving performance and accountability
  • Supporting new product introduction and engineering projects with robust sourcing solutions
  • Monitoring supplier quality, delivery, and compliance metrics
  • Managing supply chain risk and ensuring continuity of supply
  • Driving inventory optimisation and procurement process improvements
  • Supporting and mentoring junior procurement professionals

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Proven experience within a Senior Buyer, Strategic Buyer, Commodity Buyer, or Procurement Specialist position
  • Background within a regulated manufacturing environment such as aerospace, defence, medical devices, electronics, automotive, pharmaceutical, or precision engineering
  • Strong negotiation, supplier management, and contract management experience
  • Experience sourcing technical or engineered products and components
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • ERP/MRP system experience such as SAP, Oracle, IFS, or similar
  • Demonstrable success delivering cost savings and supplier improvements
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills
  • CIPS qualification or working towards
