Job Title
This fast growing luxury travel business has a long history and offers bespoke packages to customers in Europe, Middle East, Africa, AsPac and the Americas. More recently, it completed a major transaction which has added significant operational complexity to the business model with many new territories now included.
Role Overview
As the lead indirect tax expert in a flatly structured group tax team of five you will support the Head of Tax with a wide range of domestic and international tax compliance and advisory duties. You will be responsible for overseeing and managing the indirect tax affairs of the Group across various jurisdictions. You will have support from one existing tax team member. The role includes ensuring compliance with VAT, GST, and other similar tax laws, advising on indirect tax implications of business initiatives and transactions, and identifying opportunities for indirect tax optimisation
Key Responsibilities
- Business partnering on indirect taxes across countries and cultures including support for continued business development and international expansion
- Advise on, and oversee the Group’s indirect tax compliance obligations across multiple jurisdictions
- Provide expert advice on indirect tax matters, including the tax implications of operations in new jurisdictions, entities, products, services, and business models
- Advise the business and Head of Tax in relation to indirect tax planning and strategy to optimise the company's tax position while ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations
- Monitor changes in indirect tax legislation and assesses their impact on the company's operations, advising on necessary actions to maintain compliance
- Liaise with colleagues and external tax advisors and auditors to manage advice, compliance relationships and/or indirect tax audits and queries from tax authorities
- Collaborate with Finance and Risk to monitor internal controls and procedures to mitigate indirect tax risks
- Train and educate staff on indirect tax matters to raise awareness and understanding
- Collaborate with the Finance and IT teams to feedback data queries and issues and ensure accurate indirect tax accounting and reconciliation of tax accounts.
- Implement process improvements to improve efficiency and accuracy in VAT/GST reporting including e-filing. Participate in POS, One IS and ERP system developments to ensure that all relevant VAT requirements are built into new processes for complete, accurate and timely reporting.
- Support the Head of Tax in indirect tax risk management and reporting to leadership.
- Participate in cross-functional projects, providing indirect tax expertise to support business initiatives.

About You

- CTA qualified (indirect tax route) or Chartered Accountant
- UK VAT tax trained, ideally in a Big 4 or top 10 firm
- Previous exposure to travel, shipping, leisure or hospitality sectors an advantage
- A team player who is keen to make a difference in a fast-growing and fast-moving international business
- Minimum of six years indirect tax experience
