JSS Tax are hiring for an Indirect Tax Manager for a leading energy company based in the East Midlands (supporting 3 days per week remote working).
This is a permanent full-time role paying circa £70k-£80k plus up to 30% bonus and 12% pension.
This is an advisory-focused role looking at indirect tax issues that affect the business (with a focus on VAT), but also supporting indirect tax strategy and planning, and managing indirect tax compliance obligations.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide high-quality indirect tax advice and analysis to support commercial decision-making across the business.
- Support VAT treatment for new services, cross-border activity, property income, and business operations, helping to optimise VAT recovery.
- Maintain the property register and work closely with property teams to ensure accurate reporting.
- Assess the indirect tax impact of new legislation and regulatory change, clearly communicating risks and opportunities.
- Support the delivery and review of UK VAT returns.
- Manage the Group’s partial exemption position, considering both existing and new sources of exempt income.
- Assist with compliance obligations across other indirect taxes.
- Help develop and maintain internal policies, guidance, and training to strengthen tax governance.
- Supporting wider tax projects and risk initiatives.

The team are looking for an experienced VAT/indirect tax professional with UK experience and possessing strong communication & stakeholder management skills in order to facilitate the advisory and business partnering side to the role.
