VAT Compliance Manager
Hybrid | Permanent | Up to £90,000 + 10% bonus
We’re partnering with a large international organisation that’s looking to bring in a VAT Compliance Manager to take ownership of its indirect tax compliance across EMEA.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys the management side of VAT. You’ll be leading an established team and overseeing a high-volume compliance operation, while still getting involved in the more complex VAT queries and projects. It’s not a role where you’ll be expected to sit and prepare returns all day.
The Role
- Take responsibility for VAT compliance across multiple entities and jurisdictions
- Oversee a high-volume VAT operation, covering both UK and international filings
- Lead, manage and develop an established VAT team
- Plan workloads, manage deadlines and make sure the right checks and controls are in place
- Get involved in higher-risk areas and more complex or escalated VAT issues
- Support the team with technical queries and help develop their VAT knowledge
- Deal with a range of business-led VAT queries, including registrations and one-off projects
- Build relationships with the wider Finance, Tax and business teams
- Look for ways to improve and automate processes, including developments in tax technology and e-invoicing

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
