About the Role

Our client, a leading technology business headquartered in Hertfordshire, is seeking an experienced VAT Manager to join their in-house tax function on a 12-month initial contract. This is a compliance-led position with meaningful exposure to advisory work and cross-functional project involvement.

The role sits within the Group Tax function and will suit someone comfortable owning end-to-end VAT compliance while also contributing to business change initiatives, systems projects, and ad hoc advisory queries from the wider organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end UK and multi-jurisdictional VAT/GST compliance, return preparation, review and submission, reconciliations, and balance sheet substantiation while acting as the primary point of contact for HMRC on enquiries and audits.
  • Provide day-to-day VAT advisory support to finance, commercial, and legal teams on transactions, contracts, cross-border supply chains, and new product launches, including registration requirements as the group expands into new territories.
  • Contribute VAT expertise to wider finance transformation and systems projects (e.g. ERP implementations, automation of VAT determination and reporting), identifying and implementing process efficiencies across the compliance cycle.
  • Monitor changes in VAT legislation, assess business impact, and deliver training and guidance to non-tax stakeholders to keep the wider organisation compliant.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
