Company Description
Garden House Hospice Care provides free specialist palliative care to patients, families, and carers facing life-limiting illnesses across North Hertfordshire, Stevenage, and parts of Central Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire, serving a community of around 230,000 people. Working alongside a medical team of experienced doctors and nurses, the hospice offers a range of services including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, bereavement support, complementary therapy, and spiritual care. Key services include Inpatient Care, Hospice at Home, the Hawthorne Centre, and a dedicated Family Support Service. While the hospice receives some statutory funding, it must raise nearly £5 million in charitable income each year and depends heavily on support from local businesses, groups, individuals, and committed volunteers to sustain and develop its care.
Role Description
The Individual Giving and In-Memory Manager is a full-time role responsible for developing and delivering strategies that grow income from individual donors and in-memory giving at Garden House Hospice Care. Based in Hitchin, this hybrid position combines on-site collaboration with the fundraising and wider hospice teams with flexibility to work from home for planning, analysis, and administration.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
