Job Description

Industrial Architect – Nuclear

Bolton/London/Newcastle/Derby/Bristol, UK

Assystem is seeking an experienced Industrial Architect to lead architectural design in its Fusion and Modular Nuclear team, focusing on innovative nuclear infrastructure projects including SMR, AMR, and Fusion developments in the UK and internationally. The role involves multidisciplinary collaboration, site masterplanning, and ensuring compliance with nuclear and building regulations.

  • Architectural leadership in nuclear projects: The role includes leading architectural design from concept through construction, integrating multiple engineering disciplines to develop resilient and efficient nuclear facility layouts.
  • Key responsibilities: Tasks involve developing nuclear site masterplans, coordinating with engineering and environmental teams, managing spatial design, resolving conflicts, and advancing BIM and digital twin capabilities.
  • Candidate qualifications: Applicants should hold a master’s degree in architecture, be ARB registered, ideally be a Chartered RIBA member, and have significant experience in nuclear or large-scale regulated projects, with strong skills in planning, industrial building design, and digital tools.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or Industrial Architecture
  • Proven experience working on large-scale, multidisciplinary engineering projects

Desirable Experience

  • Previous involvement in power generation projects (thermal, nuclear, or renewables)
  • Experience with hazardous or high-security environments
  • Knowledge of modular construction or prefabrication techniques
  • Familiarity with digital project delivery and BIM Level 2/3 standards
