Position Summary
This position is responsible for leading global industrial design team focused on differentiated packaging design & driving related innovation initiatives and activities. This role will be part of Global Core Innovation team and serve as central resource for coordination of design innovation and related services. Closely partner with internal stakeholders to support design innovation with customers and drive internal innovation initiatives.
Essential Responsibilities
- Leads global industrial design team with team members serving Europe, North America, & Latin America.
- Works cross-functionally with PLM & Market/Consumer research to identify future needs & opportunities.
- Ensure visibility of industrial design team schedule & priorities to internal stakeholders and leadership team.
- Defines ID roadmap, team/individual goals, & related performance management.
- Ensure team expectations are met through a customer focused approach.
- Resolve conflicts in priorities, resourcing, or work schedule through alignment with internal customers and stakeholders.
- Support internal innovation initiatives in addition to customer demands.
- Adept at customer facing communication & related team development.
- Drive collaboration across functions, ID teams, & BU’s.
- Define & align global ID software needs & related licensing.
- Improve engagement & collaboration within Core ID team.
- Facilitate research & decision making relative to design innovation initiatives.
- Responsible for individual performance management for assigned team members.
- Ensure team members maintain timelines as relates to design projects & initiatives aligned with overall business requirements.
- Establishes relationships with customers and serves as design/technical expert to customers & internal stakeholders.
- Establish internal design and work standards in coordination with design innovation team.
- Research and identify new design tools and techniques for continued advancement of design team capabilities.

Essential Functions/Skills
- Knows the business well enough to understand overall market needs and to predict future needs.
- Expert in multiple categories of products and technologies. Serves as thought leader for product design.
- Drives design strategy and stimulates the creation of new technologies.
- Ensure team applies professional and engineering/design principles to develop an understanding of differing and variable situations to guide thinking about ways to address those situations.
- Requires tact and effectiveness in dealing with others in everyday working relationships, including contacts to request or provide information.
- Receives limited general direction, work in progress is reviewed routinely.
- Selects appropriate work procedures or approaches to address assigned projects.
- Makes own decisions regarding how to approach group leadership and related work assignments.
- Responsible for ensuring team completes assigned work on time and within budget.
- Holds to appropriate policies and rules.
- Must have safety awareness, dependability, clear written and oral communication.
- Will seek feedback and correct own performance.
- Exhibits willingness to learn as well as teach/coach others.
- Applies creative and constructive thinking to achieve results.

Additional Useful Skills
- Basic understanding of Amcor’s manufacturing processes and related design constraints.
- Proficient knowledge of PP/HDPE/PET and basic knowledge of alternative materials.
- Ability to work in complex research & development environment.
- Establish and support design standards.
- Establish relationships with customers, vendors, & key internal stakeholders.
- Define standard work processes & routine specifications for quality.
Education and Experience
- Requires 8+ years of relevant experience plus a relevant degree or equivalent.
