Industrial Designer II
Hybrid working model with 3-4 days per week onsite in Cheltenham.
Salary £39-49K subject to skills & experience, plus a fantastic benefits package including company bonus.

About Kohler Mira and the position:
Kohler Mira designs and engineers some of the UK’s most innovative and trusted showering and bathroom products. As part of Kohler Co.’s global design community, we bring together creativity, technical expertise and a commitment to improving daily life through thoughtful, user-centred design. Our design studio values diverse perspectives, collaboration and a supportive culture.
We are seeking a midweight Industrial Designer to help develop the next generation of showering and bathroom products. Working closely with designers, marketing and engineering teams, you will contribute to projects from early insight gathering through to production, helping transform user needs into meaningful, manufacturable solutions. This is an excellent opportunity for a designer looking to build their experience across the full product development process while contributing to products that deliver innovation, usability and beautiful design.
Key Responsibilities
User-Centric Design & Innovation
- Contribute to the design and development of showering and bathroom products, from initial insights and concept generation through to design for manufacture.
- Support user, market and trend research activities and help translate findings into design opportunities.
- Generate sketches, CAD models, renderings, prototypes and visual storytelling materials to explore and communicate ideas.
- Contribute to innovation activities, concept generation sessions and future product thinking.
- Stay informed on emerging user needs, materials, manufacturing technologies and design trends.
Execution & Delivery
- Produce CAD models, design documentation, CMF proposals and visual assets to support decision-making and product development.
- Work closely with the prototyping lab to create and evaluate prototypes of varying fidelity.
- Collaborate with engineering and suppliers to refine concepts and ensure design intent is maintained through development and manufacturing.
- Support product validation activities, design reviews and implementation of feedback.
- Contribute to maintaining high standards of design quality, usability and attention to detail throughout the development process.

Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with industrial designers, engineers, marketers and project teams to deliver successful outcomes.
- Participate in design reviews, workshops and stakeholder presentations.
- Support a positive, creative and inclusive studio culture where ideas can be shared openly and stress tested.
- Build strong relationships across functions and contribute effectively to multidisciplinary project teams.
Skills/Requirements
- 3+ years of industry experience in industrial design.
- Experience contributing to product development projects from concept through to manufacture.
- Strong user-centred design mindset and structured approach to problem solving.
- Experience conducting, supporting or interpreting user and desktop research.
- Ability to generate a broad range of ideas and develop concepts into refined design solutions.
- Strong sketching, visualisation and rapid prototyping skills.
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes, particularly injection moulding.
- Strong aesthetic judgement, CMF awareness and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and presentation skills.
- Collaborative, curious, self-motivated, hands-on and adaptable.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and KeyShot.
- Experience with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Experience integrating Ai tools into the product development process.
- Passion for learning, testing and pushing the capabilities of Ai.
- Good organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Fluency in English, UK work eligibility, valid passport and willingness to travel.
Nice to Have
- Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design or related discipline.
- Experience designing consumer or home products.
- Experience in UX/UI (Figma).
- Digital sketching ability (Procreate).
- Animation proficiency.
- Knowledge of additional visualisation tools.
- Interest in CMF development and material innovation.
- Passion for inclusive design, sustainability and circular economy principles.
