Position Overview
We are looking for a talented Advanced Industrial Designer to join our growing creative team. At Crux, you will help shape innovative products across the medical, healthcare, consumer and industrial sectors, working from early insight generation and opportunity definition through to concept creation, design refinement and preparation for manufacture.
Working within our multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate closely with global clients, Designers, Engineers, Human Factors specialists and Commercial teams to create products that are desirable, intuitive and technically robust. You will combine strong creative thinking with a solid understanding of product development, translating complex challenges into elegant, user-centred design solutions.
You will take ownership of key design activities within projects, interpreting and evolving client briefs, uncovering opportunities through research and creative exploration, and developing compelling concepts that balance user needs, brand expression, technical feasibility and commercial objectives. A strong appreciation of form, ergonomics, CMF and manufacturing processes is essential, alongside the ability to communicate ideas through sketching, CAD, visualisation and storytelling.
As a valued member of the team, you will help bring ideas to life, maintain design intent throughout development and contribute to the creative culture and continued growth of Crux's industrial design capability.
Principal Responsibilities
- Responsibility for leading the development and delivery of Industrial Design activities across multiple projects.
- Interpreting, challenging and refining design briefs to ensure impactful and commercially relevant outcomes.
- Generating innovative product concepts and translating them through sketching, CAD development, visualisation and prototyping.
- Creating compelling narratives and presentations that clearly communicate design intent and value to clients and internal teams.
- Collaborating closely with Engineering and Human Factors teams to develop solutions that balance user needs, technical requirements and manufacturing constraints.
- Liaising with external suppliers and manufacturing partners to support prototyping and production activities.
- Producing clear, concise design reports, presentations and client-facing documentation.
- Presenting ideas to colleagues and clients with varying levels of technical knowledge, questioning where appropriate and being persuasive in communicating design rationale.
- Building trusted relationships within existing client accounts and helping identify opportunities for future design support.
- Promoting design excellence within the business and contributing to the continual development of Crux's Industrial Design processes, tools and capabilities.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
