JP Recycling Ltd is an established plastics recycling business operating recycling and manufacturing facilities in Saltney, Chester, and Wrexham. As our operation continues to grow and develop, we are looking to recruit an experienced Industrial Electrical Engineer / Electrical Maintenance Engineer to become a key member of our engineering team and provide electrical support across both sites. This is a hands-on engineering role. We operate a wide variety of heavy industrial recycling and processing machinery and are looking for someone who enjoys fault-finding, solving problems, and improving machinery reliability. We want an engineer who takes ownership of problems, understands why faults occur, and looks for practical ways of preventing them from happening again.
The Role
You will take responsibility for electrical maintenance, fault diagnosis, repair, and improvement of machinery across our Saltney and Wrexham facilities. The role will involve working between both sites as required, with a company van provided.
Our equipment includes:
- Large three-phase industrial motors
- Star-delta motor starting systems
- Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs/inverters)
- MCCs and industrial electrical control panels
- Contactors, overloads, relays, and motor protection equipment
- Sensors, switches, interlocks, and machinery safety circuits
- Industrial shredders and granulators
- Conveyors and screw conveyors
- Pumps and industrial washing equipment
- PLC-controlled machinery
- Siemens PLC and HMI systems
- Generators and associated electrical distribution equipment
- Extrusion and plastics-processing machinery
- Various bespoke recycling and manufacturing equipment
The position will involve both planned preventative maintenance and reactive electrical fault-finding. We are continually developing, modifying, and expanding our plant, so the successful engineer will also become involved in machinery installation, upgrades, modifications, and commissioning projects.

Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults on industrial machinery
- Fault-find three-phase motors and motor control systems
- Maintain and repair MCCs and electrical control panels
- Diagnose faults involving contactors, overloads, relays, sensors, and safety circuits
- Work with VFD/inverter-controlled motors
- Fault-find PLC-controlled machinery and associated inputs and outputs
- Assist with PLC and HMI diagnostics where appropriate
- Carry out planned preventative electrical maintenance
- Assist with installation and commissioning of new machinery
- Modify and improve existing electrical installations and control systems
- Identify recurring faults and implement practical engineering improvements
- Maintain electrical drawings and equipment records where appropriate
- Work closely with management and production teams to minimize machinery downtime
- Support both our Saltney and Wrexham sites
- Play an active role in the continued development and expansion of the business
What We Are Looking For
We are particularly interested in engineers with experience in manufacturing, recycling, processing, quarrying, heavy engineering, agricultural machinery, or similar industrial environments.
- Strong industrial electrical fault-finding skills
- Experience working with three-phase motors and motor control systems
- Good knowledge of contactors, overloads, relays, and control circuits
- Experience with VFDs/inverters
- Ability to read electrical drawings and wiring diagrams
- Experience working safely within industrial electrical control panels
- A practical and methodical approach to diagnosing machinery faults
- The ability to work independently and take ownership of engineering problems
- Strong awareness of electrical and machinery safety
Useful experience: Siemens S7 PLCs, Siemens HMI systems, and TIA Portal would be particularly useful, although this is not essential. Engineers with good PLC fault-finding experience using other systems are also encouraged to apply. Experience with generators, large motors, star-delta systems, MCCs, and industrial machinery installation would also be advantageous.

Qualifications
Relevant electrical or engineering qualifications are preferred, including:
- NVQ Level 3 Electrical Engineering / Electrical Installation
- City & Guilds electrical qualifications
- Electrical or electromechanical engineering apprenticeship
- HNC/HND or equivalent engineering qualification
However, we are equally interested in candidates who can demonstrate substantial practical industrial electrical experience.
The Person
We are looking for someone who is:
- Hands-on and practical
- An experienced electrical fault-finder
- Calm and methodical when dealing with machinery breakdowns
- Reliable and self-motivated
- Comfortable working around large industrial machinery
- Able to work independently
- Willing to take ownership of electrical problems
- Interested in improving machinery rather than simply repairing the same recurring fault
- Interested in becoming an important long-term member of the business
This is an opportunity for the right engineer to take real ownership of the electrical engineering side of a growing recycling and manufacturing operation. You will work directly with the people running the business and have significant input into how our machinery and electrical systems are maintained, modified, and developed.
Package
- Salary £50,000-£55,000 per annum, depending on experience
- Company van provided
- 8:00am-5:00pm Full-time, permanent
