Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Industrial Engineer to support our Swindon manufacturing site. Operating across five value streams and approximately 180 manufacturing machines running on a 24/5 production schedule, this role will focus on driving operational excellence through manufacturing lead time reduction, cost improvement, improving productivity, supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the facility, as well as providing day-to-day manufacturing support.
The successful candidate will work closely with Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Planning, Finance, Technical teams, and Production Management to identify opportunities, implement improvements, and deliver measurable business benefits through Lean Manufacturing principles.
Your New Role
- Measure equipment throughput, cycle times, and changeover performance against established standards.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Data Management, and Finance teams to update and maintain operational standards across a diverse product portfolio.
- Lead Value Stream Transformation projects using the Harris Lean Systems 12-Step Methodology.
- Develop Current State and Future State Value Stream Maps to identify opportunities for efficiency, waste reduction, and process improvement.
- Conduct time and motion studies, operator balance charts, machine balance charts, workflow analysis, and process simulations to support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Analyse and report key manufacturing performance metrics, including:
- Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
- Labour Efficiency
- Schedule Adherence
- Throughput Performance
- Support the development, implementation, and sustainment of Lean Manufacturing principles and best practices.
- Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with health, safety, and environmental requirements, promptly identifying and reporting any hazards.
- Communicate project plans, recommendations, progress updates, and improvement opportunities to Technical, Planning, and Production leadership teams.
- Review and improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to drive process standardisation, consistency, and operational excellence.
- Support capacity planning and resource optimisation through data-driven decision-making.

- Strong engineering background in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in Industrial Engineering, Continuous Improvement, Manufacturing Engineering or Operational Excellence.
- Practical application of Lean Manufacturing tools and methodologies.
- Experience with Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Time and Motion Studies, OEE Analysis, Takt Time Calculations and Process Flow Analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret manufacturing data.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, able to engage at all levels.
- Experience in fast-paced production environments.
- Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience with SAP and MRP systems.
- Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher).
- Analytical and data-driven mindset.
- Curious and confident in challenging existing processes.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Results-focused with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Strong team player with effective influencing skills.
- Adaptable and comfortable working across office and manufacturing environments, with a preference for shop-floor engagement.
