Lead Manufacturing Excellence within a Global Electronics Manufacturer

Are you an experienced Industrial Engineering Manager with a passion for improving manufacturing performance, leading engineering teams and delivering world-class production test solutions?

Our client is a well-established and highly respected manufacturer of electronic equipment, supplying products to customers worldwide. Due to continued investment and growth, they are looking to appoint an Industrial Engineering Manager to lead their manufacturing engineering function and drive continuous improvement across their production operation.

This is a fantastic opportunity and a great time to join this expanding business and to join a technically advanced manufacturing environment where you'll play a pivotal role in improving productivity, introducing new products into manufacture and leading the development of automated production test systems.

The Role

Reporting to the UK Operations Director, you will lead the Industrial Engineering team with responsibility for Manufacturing Test Engineering, Production Engineering and Continuous Improvement activities across the business.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading a small engineering team
  • Developing and implementing the manufacturing test strategy
  • Managing Automated Test Equipment (ATE) and LabVIEW-based production test systems
  • Driving Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives
  • Improving Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), productivity and manufacturing throughput
  • Supporting New Product Introduction (NPI), pilot builds and manufacturing readiness
  • Leading root cause investigations and implementing corrective actions
  • Developing manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures and production documentation
  • Managing engineering priorities, budgets and technical development of the team
  • Supporting ISO9001 quality standards and manufacturing compliance

The Candidate

We are looking for an experienced engineering leader who combines strong technical capability with excellent people management skills.

  • Degree or HND in Electronic, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering
  • Proven experience within an electronics manufacturing environment
  • Strong experience developing Automated Test Equipment (ATE)
  • Good knowledge of LabVIEW programming and production test systems
  • Experience leading and developing small teams
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement
  • Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI)
  • Excellent problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
  • The ability to drive measurable improvements in manufacturing efficiency, quality and productivity

Experience of NI TestStand, Python, SQL, C#, Design for Manufacture (DFM), Design for Test (DFT) or calibration systems would be advantageous.
