Role Overview

At ATS, our Industrial IT Engineers play a pivotal role in delivering sophisticated IT projects for customers in the Aerospace and Defence manufacturing industry. You will be responsible for deploying IT hardware and software in critical manufacturing production environments. This role encompasses multiple stages of the project lifecycle, from design and documentation to implementation and customer acceptance.

How you´ll make an impact

  • Project Design and Documentation:

    • Develop high-quality technical documentation that meets customer technical governance and assurance criteria.
    • Participate in the design phase, ensuring all technical documentation aligns with project requirements.
  • Implementation:

    • Undertake the deployment of IT hardware and software in critical manufacturing environments.
    • Ensure the implementation phase is executed seamlessly, adhering to project timelines and quality standards.
  • Customer Acceptance and Transition:

    • Manage the transition of projects from implementation to service support.
    • Facilitate customer acceptance, ensuring all project deliverables meet or exceed expectations.

  • Technical Leadership:
    • Work collaboratively within project teams to contribute to effective technical solutions.
    • Communicate effectively with customers' organisations and their various IT suppliers to support seamless integration and project success.

What success looks like

  • Understanding our customers’ challenges and perspectives, building credibility and strong relationships, and tailoring your delivery approach to fit.
  • Taking responsibility for the delivery of projects ‘right first time’ and providing technical lessons learned to our commercial team.
  • Being commercially aware and spotting opportunities that will enhance the ATS UK proposition for our customers.
  • Striving for professional development and career progression by combining your existing IT knowledge with experience gained in the manufacturing industry and applying this to your role and other areas within ATS UK.

What you will bring to the team

  • The ability to work collaboratively in a team to deliver and support complex IT projects.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in developing technical documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and precision.
  • Adaptable and willing to learn new technologies and methodologies.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows client and server operating systems, including proficiency in installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • The ability to obtain Security Clearance to work at a UK MOD accredited manufacturing facility.
  • A willingness to work on-site at customers’ manufacturing facilities across the UK and occasionally overseas.
  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent industry experience.

  • A strong background in IT project delivery within manufacturing environments.
  • Experience in the Aerospace and Defence industry is highly desirable.
