Craft Technician Electrical Installation
Permanent role - 36 hrs core per week + overtime
Salary – up to £47,400 + overtime (OTE of £7,500 in overtime)
Location: Hanningfield (Essex – CM3 8BD) (Mobile Worker with van and fuel card provided)
About The Role
We are looking to recruit an experienced industrial installation electrical technician to work in the Integrated Design & Delivery team. Reporting to a team manager you will, as part of a team, be required to successfully scope and design solutions to identified issues and then carry out installations and modifications of electrical and instrumentation equipment to a high professional standard.
You will be responsible for liaising with asset owners to efficiently deliver low to medium complexity installations on Essex & Suffolk Water (ESW) operational sites while safeguarding the site process.
You must be able to read electrical drawings, identify, source, and install components. You will understand single phase and 3 phase AC systems, PLC’s, radio and telemetry, level control, variable speed drives, motor starting methods including DOL & Star Delta, as well as a willingness to multi-skill.
ESW offers support and training so that you will be competent in designing, installing, commissioning electrical components / machinery as appropriate. You will be issued a laptop and smart phone, allowing you to access relevant software packages to support your role and communicate effectively with the project teams.
Working on multiple sites, with no one day being the same provides a very interesting working environment. You will be presented with unique challenges whether it’s using your expertise to plan a job or deliver a high standard installation within agreed time and budget. All tools, PPE and equipment are provided supporting our technicians in their daily role.
You will be a fully mobile worker covering the Essex and Suffolk region, starting and finishing from home. Please note that once all core and competency training is complete the role requires that you work an occasional standby attracting a standby payment to cover the teams installation projects out of hours, however we will ensure that you have the experience required in to do this. Competitive rates for additional payments are made for callouts and any additional hours worked.
About You
You’ll be a time served electrical technician educated to at least ONC/NVQ level 3 or equivalent in electrical engineering. You’ll be able to demonstrate an installation and/or maintenance background. You will be responsible for managing your time efficiently with minimal supervision.
The successful candidate will be competent in reading electrical drawings, sourcing and installing components to BS7671 (18th edition) as well as verifying and testing installation (C&G 2391). You’ll have the desire to expand your skill set with core and module-based training which can further improve earning potential with the majority of our technicians attaining two technical modules attracting circa £3,200 in salary payment.
We are looking for candidates with a can-do attitude, willingness to learn and explore new ways of working. A hands-on practical approach and keen interest in resolving problems and implementing solutions is essential as it is a large part of this role.
You’ll have excellent communication skills both written and verbally and be a strong team player. A strong Health and Safety ethic is an important part of our Everybody Home Safe Everyday culture. A basic level understanding of Microsoft office packages including Outlook e-mail, Excel and Word is desirable as is contractor engagement and Construction (Design and Management) regulations, but these skills can be developed with the right candidate.
