We are a small, ethical business based just outside Edinburgh, crafting beautiful, high-end baby carriers, slings, and lifestyle accessories from our specially woven jacquard textiles. All our fabrics are woven in the UK using natural, organic yarns, and we are proud to keep our manufacturing rooted in Scotland. Our workshop is located in a lovely spot featuring a large garden with direct access to Roslin Glen's walking trails. We offer a supportive, tight-knit environment with flexi-time and free parking.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Industrial Sewing Machinist for a full-time position within our workshop team. This role requires working at a fast pace to meet daily production targets while upholding our exceptionally high standards of quality and craftsmanship.
While high-precision machining is your primary focus, this is a flexible role where you will also be fully trained in Quality Control (QC). You will learn our inspection standards so you can step in to perform end-of-line checks—inspecting finished products for both construction quality and subtle fabric flaws, fixing minor issues, and preparing items for packaging as production demands shift.

Key Responsibilities
- Meeting Production Targets: Consistently achieve daily unit volume and pace targets while maintaining exceptional finished product quality.
- Industrial Machining: Efficiently operate industrial sewing machines and pressing equipment to manufacture jacquard woven products at a fast commercial pace.
- Pattern & Spec Precision: Interpret technical product specifications accurately, ensuring exact pattern matching and precise alignment across complex textiles.
- Finished Product & Fabric QC (Training Provided): Thoroughly inspect completed items to verify stitching accuracy, construction standards, and identify any fabric weave flaws before packaging.
- Flexible Workflow: Adapt fluidly between machine sewing, finished product/fabric inspection, and final packaging based on daily workshop goals.
- Safety & Standards: Maintain operational pace while strictly adhering to workplace health, safety, and machinery maintenance protocols.
Required Experience & Skills
- Commercial Target-Driven Experience: Proven track record working efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing, factory, or commercial workshop environment where hitting daily output targets is standard practice (note: domestic, alteration, or personal sewing project experience alone does not meet the requirements for this role).
- Industrial Machinery Mastery: High confidence operating power industrial lockstitch, overlock, or specialized machines at commercial speed.
- Quality & Pace Balance: Ability to meet production targets without sacrificing accuracy, structural integrity, or finished quality.
- Adaptability & Initiative: A proactive mindset, happy to learn QC inspection methods and switch between machining and table-based tasks smoothly to keep production flowing.
- Reliability & Communication: Excellent timekeeping and attendance—vital for meeting team output goals—along with good verbal communication and basic literacy/numeracy.
- Physical Capability: Ability to handle light lifting and box moving (manual handling training provided).
