An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the dynamic Infection Prevention & Control Service team at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust on a full-time substantive contract.

About the Role

The Infection Prevention & Control Nursing Service is seeking to appoint a Band 6 Infection Prevention & Control Nurse to join our experienced and friendly team. This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate who wishes to expand their knowledge, experience, and learn new skills within a dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advice and guidance on Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) issues for Torbay & South Devon NHS Foundation Trust (TSDFT), domiciliary care, Registered Nursing and Care Homes, and GP practices within Torbay and South Devon footprint.
  • Visit clinical areas, departments, and community facilities to audit and evaluate IPC measures providing evidence-based advice and support.
  • Apply knowledge of microbiology, immunology, and epidemiology to promote health in clinical and non-clinical environments.
  • Promote the provision of a safe environment for the wellbeing of staff and patients to support the IPC education and training programme for all grades of staff.
  • Use core audit skills to enable the IPC and other health professionals to improve quality of care.

Requirements

The successful candidate will be expected to have a sound knowledge of clinical nursing, excellent clinical skills, and experience working in the field of infection prevention & control. You will need to be able to empower staff and facilitate effective infection prevention & control practice within the organization.

  • Work across the Trust's acute and community hospital sites.
  • A full driving license and daily access to a car will be required.
