We are offering an exciting development opportunity for an experienced senior nurse to join our Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) teams across Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust and Isle of Wight NHS Trust. - The ability to work collaboratively across teams and organisations.
- A proactive, solution-focused approach to improving patient care.

As IPC Matron, you will play a key role in supporting both Trusts to deliver safe, effective, and evidence-based infection prevention and control. Working closely with the Deputy DIPC, IPC Drs, and wider clinical teams, you will:
- Provide visible, professional leadership across both organisations.
- Responsible for the Operational Management of the IPC Team.

- Champion best practice, education, and engagement with staff, patients, and visitors.
- Contribute to harmonising IPC policies, resources, and communication across the group model.
This role offers rich professional development, including access to senior clinical leaders, cross-site collaboration, and the opportunity to shape IPC practice across a group model. It provides a unique chance to expand your leadership experience while influencing infection prevention standards across two organisations, supporting the delivery of safe, high-quality care for our patients and communities.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
