Infection Prevention and Control Nurse Opportunities
The Infection Prevention and Control Team at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is looking for motivated and enthusiastic nurses to join our specialist team.
We have 1.5 WTE Band 6 opportunities available and welcome applications for full or part-time working. This could be appointed as one full-time and one part-time post, or two part-time posts. Working hours can be discussed with successful candidates, subject to service requirements.
This is an exciting opportunity for nurses with an interest in Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) who want to develop their specialist knowledge and make a positive contribution to patient safety and the prevention of healthcare-associated infection.
Working within our multidisciplinary IPC Team, you will provide specialist advice and support, contribute to infection surveillance and outbreak management, and support assurance, education and improvement activity across the Trust.
We are looking for proactive, approachable nurses committed to high standards of care, patient safety and continuous improvement. You will be supported by experienced IPC colleagues to develop your specialist practice and progressively manage your own workload.
The role has a Trust-wide remit across acute and community services and includes weekend working as part of the IPC service provision.
Role Responsibilities
The post holder will work as part of the multidisciplinary Infection Prevention and Control Team (IPCT), supporting the prevention, identification and management of healthcare-associated infections (HCAIs) and promoting high standards of IPC practice across Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Working across acute and community services, the post holder will provide specialist IPC advice and support to clinical and non-clinical teams; review patients with known or suspected infections; and support the investigation and management of outbreaks, incidents and emerging infection risks.
The role will contribute to HCAI surveillance, audit and assurance activity, identifying trends and supporting improvements in practice. The post holder will contribute to the development and implementation of evidence-based IPC policies and guidance, provide education and training, and support decontamination, environmental cleanliness and wider IPC assurance.
Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, patients, families and wider stakeholders, the post holder will promote patient and staff safety and contribute to quality improvement and service development.
The post holder will manage an allocated workload with support from senior IPC colleagues and work flexibly across acute and community services, including participation in weekend IPC service provision.
