Information Compliance & Data Protection Manager

£47,181 – £53,051 | Permanent | 37 hours per week | Cheshire / North West

We are delighted to be partnering with a well-established public sector organisation to appoint an experienced Information Compliance & Data Protection Manager.

This is an exciting opportunity for an information governance or data protection professional to take a key role within the organisation's Governance function, providing specialist advice and helping to shape how information is managed, protected and shared across the organisation.

The opportunity

Reporting into a senior Governance lead, you will act as the organisation's subject matter expert across information governance, data protection, records management and information security. You will provide trusted advice to colleagues and senior stakeholders on complex legislative and regulatory matters, ensuring the organisation continues to meet its responsibilities under UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act, Freedom of Information legislation and associated information governance requirements.

The role has a broad remit and includes responsibility for data protection compliance, Subject Access Requests and individual rights, complex information requests, information sharing agreements, DPIAs, records management and information security.

About you

We are looking for an experienced professional with a strong background in Information Governance, Data Protection or Information Compliance, together with the confidence to provide advice and challenge at all levels of an organisation.

You will have:

  • Strong working knowledge of UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act, Freedom of Information and records management.
  • Experience developing and implementing information governance policies, standards and processes.
  • Experience dealing with complex information compliance matters, data sharing and information security issues.
  • The ability to interpret legislation and translate it into clear, practical advice.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities, work independently and make sound risk-based decisions.

Experience with Microsoft 365, Purview and eDiscovery would be particularly advantageous. A relevant qualification in Data Protection, Information Governance, Law, Records Management or a related discipline would also be desirable.
