Information Governance Officer
The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust is seeking an experienced and motivated Information Governance Officer to join our Data Security and Protection Team.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting information governance, data protection, records management, information sharing, and freedom of information compliance across the Trust and wider Group organisations. Working closely with senior leaders, digital teams, service transformation leads, and clinical services, you will provide specialist advice and assurance to support the safe, lawful and effective use of information.
The post holder will lead on a range of information governance initiatives, including data protection impact assessments, information sharing arrangements, compliance monitoring, staff training and awareness, and the development of policies and procedures. The role is critical in ensuring compliance with UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, the Common Law Duty of Confidentiality, Freedom of Information legislation, and NHS information governance standards.
Working within a collaborative Group model, the successful candidate will help support digital transformation, innovation and service redesign programmes, ensuring that information governance requirements are embedded from the outset. They will contribute to the delivery of strategic objectives by enabling the safe sharing and use of information while helping to manage legal, regulatory, cyber security and patient safety risks.

- Provide specialist Information Governance and Data Protection advice to staff and stakeholders.
- Support compliance with UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, Freedom of Information legislation and NHS standards.
- Undertake Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), information sharing reviews and compliance audits.
- Support digital transformation, service improvement and innovation projects by ensuring governance requirements are met.
- Manage and investigate information governance incidents and provide expert advice on risk mitigation.
- Deliver training, guidance and awareness activities to promote good information governance practices.
- Support the development of policies, procedures and assurance reporting across the Trust and Group organisations.
- Contribute to the safe, lawful and effective use of information to support patient care, service delivery and organisational objectives.
