Information Governance Officer
We are currently working in partnership with a public sector organisation in Birmingham, who are recruiting for an Information Governance Officer on an initial 3-month temporary contract.
The position is due to start immediately, and will be based 1 day per week in office. The rate of pay is circa £250 - £300 per day via an Umbrella company.
Duties
- Handling complex Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs), including assessing scope and exemptions, coordinating searches for personal data, liaising with relevant business areas, and ensuring responses are accurate, timely and compliant with data protection legislation
- Dealing with sensitive information and high-profile matters, exercising sound judgement and discretion when handling confidential or potentially contentious issues, and working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to resolve complex data protection queries
- Supporting Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) by identifying and assessing data protection risks, advising on appropriate mitigation measures, and working with colleagues to ensure privacy risks are appropriately managed and documented
- Managing and responding to Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, including assessing requests, coordinating with relevant teams to gather information, considering applicable exemptions, and supporting the preparation of clear, accurate and legally compliant responses within statutory deadlines
- Providing practical data protection and information governance advice to colleagues and stakeholders, helping to promote compliance, good information-handling practices and a strong culture of data protection across the organisation

- Experience within Public Sector desirable
- Strong working knowledge of relevant Data Protection legislation
Working Hours
- 37 hours per week
- Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm
