Information Officer
Worcester based with a balance of home and office working
£33,397 - £35,144 per year (pro rata)
35 hours per week
Temporary position for up to 18 months
We have an opportunity for an Information Officer to join our Information Governance team, which sits within our wider Legal and Governance service, based in Worcester. The team of 5 is responsible for providing high quality advice, support and guidance on data protection, information governance and information law compliance across Sanctuary.
While the team's primary focus is supporting compliance with UK GDPR and wider data protection legislation, the role also provides opportunities to contribute to broader information governance activities, helping to ensure the organisation meets its obligations under a range of information-related legal and regulatory requirements.
The role of Information Officer will include:
- Supporting the company on day-to-day data protection and information governance matters, including responding to and administering queries received through the team's mailbox, establishing, maintaining and refreshing compliance policies and procedures, guidance, documentation, toolkits, training, governance records, retention schedules and other compliance artefacts, and undertaking compliance reviews and audits
- Providing high quality advice, support and guidance on data protection, information governance and information law across the company, covering all aspects of data protection legislation and related information governance obligations, including the identification and management of information governance risks and incidents, and facilitating, reviewing and advising on Data Protection Impact Assessments
- Providing advice to Sanctuary employees on the rights of data subjects, reviewing and advising on data processing agreements, data sharing arrangements, data transfer agreements, standard contractual clauses, technical and organisational measures, privacy notices and Records of Processing Activities
- Coordinating and supporting the data protection champion network across the Group, promoting awareness and good information governance practices through engagement, communications and training

Skills and experiences:
- Recent experience undertaking a similar role
- Excellent knowledge of data protection legislation, particularly UK GDPR, with strong attention to detail and the ability to apply legislation in a practical and proportionate way
- Experience supporting information governance, data protection or compliance activities within a medium to large organisation
- Experience reviewing and developing policies, procedures, governance documentation and other compliance artefacts
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to provide clear advice and build effective working relationships across a range of audiences
- Proven ability to manage and prioritise a varied workload, take ownership of tasks from initiation through to completion, and work independently whilst recognising when escalation or support is required
- A proactive and solution-focused approach, with the ability to identify risks, analyse issues, make recommendations and drive actions to completion
- Good organisational and analytical skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Proficient user of Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams
