Records and Information Rights Officer

Are you an organised and detail-focused administrator with experience handling sensitive information, records management, data protection, or information governance processes? I am recruiting for a Records and Information Rights Officer to join a busy Digital, Data and Technology function for a public sector organisation based in Liverpool. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys balancing administrative accuracy with investigative work, ensuring information is managed appropriately, and statutory deadlines are met.

In this varied role, you'll support records management activities across the organisation, assist with information rights requests, maintain information governance systems, and help promote best practice in records and data management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the creation, organisation and classification of digital and physical records
  • Process and respond to information rights requests, including Subject Access Requests (SARs) and Freedom of Information (FOI) requests
  • Investigate, research and analyse information to support informed decision-making
  • Maintain records retention and disposal schedules, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation
  • Support digitisation projects and quality assurance of scanned records
  • Provide guidance and assistance to colleagues on records management processes and systems
  • Monitor records management activity through reporting and performance data
  • Assist with system updates, testing, user guidance and process improvements
  • Deliver or support training sessions on records management and information governance
  • Promote best practice across teams and contribute to the continuous improvement of information management processes

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
