Information Security Manager
Referment is working with a fast-growing short-term insurance provider, part of a larger group of UK comparison and financial brands. As Information Security Manager, you will join at a critical stage of growth and take ownership of the information security strategy, with the autonomy to shape policies, standards and controls from the ground up.
The Role
You will coordinate, define and improve the information security strategy to meet business requirements and executive policies, and identify and manage security risks across the organisation. You will evolve policies, standards and procedures, ensure staff understand and live security, and make sure standards and controls operate across all IT services, maintaining systems and operations to identify and eliminate vulnerabilities through routine practices such as vulnerability scanning and software patching, as well as strategic solutions. You will work in a small, close-knit team in an entirely cloud-native organisation that already uses platforms like Vanta to keep compliance and controls sharp rather than manual. As the business scales, there is real scope to bring GenAI into how risk is managed, and the opportunity to build out a security function of your own.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
