An exciting opportunity within the Synthetic Training and Engineering Products Information System Security Team, where you will support a small team of engineers in delivering Product Security excellence. As part of the existing Information System Security Officer (ISSO) team, you will be responsible for ensuring Product Security and Information Assurance compliance across Synthetic Training devices, in line with corporate, customer, and wider industry standards.

The role includes supporting regular compliance assessments, vulnerability management activities, and assurance reviews for both existing systems and new systems under development. These systems are primarily based at the BAE Systems Warton site; however, the role will also involve engagement with ISSO teams at customer locations as part of a collaborative community of practice.
There may be opportunities to undertake company business both within the UK and internationally in support of training devices and on-site ISSO teams.
Typical duties include:
- Establish and maintain a strong technical understanding of all applicable corporate, product, and industry cyber security standards.
- Conduct regular compliance audits and vulnerability assessments to verify adherence to security requirements and standards.
- Analyse assessment results, identify new or emerging residual risks, and provide recommendations for remediation to the wider engineering teams.
- Work effectively and collaboratively with other Synthetic Training and Engineering Products teams throughout the design, development, and delivery lifecycle to ensure security and compliance requirements are met.

Knowledge
Essential:
- Experience within the cyber security domain and familiarity with applicable standards, processes, and control frameworks is essential. This may include NIST SP 800-53, Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), Def Stan 05-138, Joint Service Publications (JSPs), and the MOD Secure by Design process.
- Experience within Defence Sector – non-specific area.
- 5 years+ experience.
Desirable:
- Experience in managing and assuring medium-to-large-scale Enterprise IT or Operational Technology (OT) systems would be beneficial but is not essential.
Skills:
- The ability to communicate complex technical information effectively to a range of audiences, tailoring the level of detail as appropriate, is highly desirable.
Qualifications:
Desirable:
- A degree in a STEM subject or equivalent relevant experience is required.
- Relevant professional qualifications, such as Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), would be advantageous.
