The Shire of Capel is seeking an Information Services Officer to play a key role in supporting our contemporary information governance framework. This is an exciting opportunity to combine technical expertise with customer service, working across the organisation to ensure corporate information is secure, accessible and managed in accordance with legislative and organisational requirements. Working within the Business & Technology Services team, you will administer our enterprise information management systems, provide specialist advice and training to employees, monitor compliance, and contribute to the ongoing optimisation of our ERP and information governance environment.

The Shire of Capel is located in the South West, halfway between Bunbury and Busselton. We are nestled between the beach and the forest and are one of the fastest growing coastal Shires in Australia. Job Description

As the Information Services Officer, you will:

  • Administer the Shire's Electronic Document and Records Management System (EDRMS) and information management processes.
  • Provide specialist advice and support to employees on information governance, records management and legislative requirements.
  • Monitor records management compliance and undertake audits to improve organisational practices.
  • Deliver training, induction and user education to build organisational capability.
  • Support the ongoing optimisation of information systems, workflows, taxonomy and metadata.
  • Contribute to ERP implementation and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance service delivery across the organisation.

The following will be highly regarded:

  • Experience within Local Government or another public sector environment.
  • Knowledge of the State Records Act 2000 (WA), Privacy and Responsible Information Sharing Act 2024 (WA) and the General Retention and Disposal Authority for Local Government Information.
  • Relevant qualifications in Information Management, Records Management, Business Administration or a related discipline.
