Job Details And Requirements
The Information and Improvement Team is responsible for delivering the Council’s statutory duties in respect of Freedom of Information, Environmental Information Regulations and Data Protection, ensuring requests are managed in accordance with relevant legislation and national guidance.
The purpose of this role is to support the Information and Policy Officer in the administration of Freedom of Information and Environmental Information Regulations requests, together with requests for personal information submitted by individuals and organisations. This is a great opportunity for someone who is organised, accurate and customer-focused to develop their knowledge of information governance while supporting important statutory services across the Council.
The postholder will liaise with colleagues across different departments, gaining a broad understanding of the varied work undertaken by the Council and valuable insight into the operation of local government.
Full support and on-the-job training will be provided, making this an ideal role for someone looking to develop experience in information access and data protection compliance. Duties will include logging and acknowledging requests under the relevant legislation, obtaining and verifying information held by the Council, and drafting customer responses based on the information provided.

To be successful you will need:
- A good standard of numeracy and literacy
- Strong interpersonal skills
- An interest in, or basic understanding of, the Freedom of Information Act, Data Protection legislation and the Environmental Information Regulations.
- Experience of handling correspondence, interpreting information and presenting findings, including use of MS Office software
- Ability to work to deadlines while following legislative requirements and work to confidentiality requirements at all times
