IT Support Professional
This is an opportunity for an experienced IT support professional to take on a genuinely varied, hands-on role with a leading switchgear manufacturer. Working alongside the IT Manager, you will be the day-to-day face of IT for the business – keeping systems running, supporting users across every department and taking on project work as the business grows. Following our acquisition of Gresham in Salisbury in May 2025, our IT estate now spans multiple sites, so this is a broad role in a small team with real scope to develop your skillset.
Duties
Duties are a combination of, but not limited to:
- Providing hardware and software support for Windows desktops, laptops and mobile devices across the business
- Troubleshooting and supporting business applications including Microsoft 365, Sage 200 and Radan
- Supporting and administering the VOIP telephone system across all sites
- Maintaining shared drives, file servers and user permissions, including starters, leavers and access changes
- Assisting with backup routines, patching and basic network administration covering switches, Wi-Fi and firewalls
- Building, imaging and deploying new PCs, laptops and user accounts
- Maintaining printers, scanners and other peripherals across all sites
- Obtaining competitive pricing for IT hardware, software and consumables, and maintaining the IT asset register
- Logging, prioritising and closing support tickets, keeping users informed of progress
- Supporting IT projects as the business grows, including system rollouts and integration work following the Gresham acquisition
- Working on site at our Gresham facility in Salisbury for one week each month, supporting users and infrastructure there

Skills and Attributes
- Previous experience in an IT support role is preferred
- A full, clean UK driving licence is essential
- Availability to work one week per month on site at our Gresham facility in Salisbury is essential
- Confident supporting Windows 11, Microsoft 365 and standard office hardware is essential
- Working knowledge of MS Server, Active Directory, user administration and file and folder permissions
- Practical networking knowledge covering switches, cabling, Wi-Fi, IP addressing and connectivity troubleshooting
- A self-sufficient, hands-on approach, comfortable working alone on site without day-to-day supervision
- Strong communication skills, able to explain technical issues in plain English to non-technical colleagues
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing requests sensibly
- Experience supporting an ERP system, ideally Sage 200 or Kerridge K8, is desirable
- Experience administering a VOIP telephone system is desirable
- Previous experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment is desirable
- A relevant IT qualification such as an HND, degree, or Microsoft certification is desirable

Join our team in our Clydebank and Yoker facilities. With easy access points from both the Erskine Bridge and the new Renfrew Bridge, we are a short journey from Glasgow, Paisley and further afield.
NCE Switchgear now operates a four-day working week within our NCE factory in Clydebank. That means that you will benefit in a long weekend every weekend! Due to the nature of this role, we cannot offer hybrid or a WFH opportunity.
This role is based at our Clydebank site, with one week each month spent on site at our Gresham facility in Salisbury. Travel and accommodation for these visits are arranged and paid for by the company.
