IT Business Analyst

Location: London
Working Arrangement: Hybrid
Contract: Permanent
Job Type: Full-time

Overview

Our client, an insurer, is seeking an IT Business Analyst to support technology change with a strong focus on underwriting applications. You will act as the critical link between business stakeholders and technology teams, turning complex requirements into practical, value-driven solutions.

Working across international business and technology teams, you will support system enhancements, solution design and transformation initiatives. The role offers significant stakeholder exposure across underwriting, operations, product, claims, finance and technology.

Responsibilities

  • Act as an insurance subject matter expert and key link between business stakeholders, underwriting teams, operations and technology teams.
  • Elicit, analyse, document and validate business, functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Facilitate requirements and analysis workshops with stakeholders across underwriting, operations, product, claims, finance and technology.
  • Translate business needs into Epics, Features, User Stories, Acceptance Criteria, Success Criteria and process models.
  • Conduct gap analysis and impact assessments for system changes and enhancements.
  • Develop As-Is and To-Be process maps and target operating models.
  • Work with architects and development teams on design specifications, and support solution validation through test planning, execution and coordination.
  • Identify delivery and subject-matter risks, support risk-based decision-making, and contribute to implementation planning, process documentation and successful delivery.

Requirements

  • Proven Business Analyst experience within the insurance sector.
  • Hands-on experience with Policy Administration Systems (PAS).
  • Commercial Insurance experience and a strong understanding of its challenges and opportunities.
  • Experience supporting stakeholders through business and technology change.
  • Strong requirements gathering, stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience defining business analysis approaches for complex programmes and projects.
  • Experience working in Agile or DevOps environments.
  • Strong knowledge of heterogeneous technology environments and mainstream IT architectures.
  • Experience with policy administration systems used in Consumer Lines, including Guidewire.
  • IT experience covering areas such as business process re-engineering, commercial analysis, SLA development and monitoring, and business transformation.
  • Data analysis and process mapping experience.
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, evolving environments and manage ambiguity.
  • Proactive approach to identifying risks and issues and taking preventative or corrective action.
