About QRoutes

At QRoutes, we build cloud-based mapping tools that help local authorities plan safer, smarter, and more efficient routes to school. From walking routes to vehicle journeys, our software helps customers save time, reduce costs, and deliver better public services.

What we’re looking for

We are looking for an IT Engineer to help us maintain and develop our hardware resources, our use of software systems internally, and our SaaS product hosting infrastructure. You will take ownership of our day-to-day IT support and administration while learning to assist on our cloud infrastructure and security, including a live migration to a container architecture in Azure.

What you’ll do

  • Own employee onboarding and offboarding, including timely account deprovisioning and device return.
  • Be the primary point of call for internal IT support.
  • Work across the business to support projects.
  • Assist the development and support of company systems including; Core company software tools; Server infrastructure; Cloud networking topologies; and Technical security systems.
  • Assist with the completion of customer security and compliance request forms for the IT Manager to review.
  • Draft and then maintain documentation of IT processes following their sign-off.
  • Assist in management of business accreditations, namely Cyber Essentials, ISO 27001 & ISO 9001.

What you’ll bring

  • Experience in
    • Microsoft 365 Admin Centres inclusive of: Admin, Entra, SharePoint and Intune
    • Supporting servers in Windows and/or Linux.
    • Provisioning IT Support in a business environment.
  • Furthermore, you’ll have a security-conscious, discreet approach to access and sensitive data. (We hold Cyber Essentials Plus and are working towards ISO 27001.)

Bonus points if you have:

  • Atlassian administration; Confluence and Jira
  • Google Cloud Platform; Gmail, Google Drive
  • Additional Microsoft admin centres such as Purview, Security and Power Platform
  • Microsoft Azure; Compute, containerisation and networking
  • CI/CD pipelines; GitHub, Teamcity, Azure Devops
  • Operational scripting languages; Powershell, Azure CLI, bash/shell
  • Worked with software development, test and release processes
  • Familiarity working with geospatial/mapping systems (such as Ordnance Survey, GIS data or routing engines such as OSRM).
  • GDPR operating knowledge concerning the processing of personal data

The package

  • £28,000–£38,000 per annum, depending on experience (pro rata for part-time). We are open to junior candidates who show a genuine appetite to grow into the cloud and DevOps aspects of the role.
  • Full time is preferred, but 0.7 FTE or above will also be considered. Core hours are 10:00 to 15:00, with flexible working around these. This role is not on-call; there is no routine out-of-hours or weekend cover expectation.
  • 25 days holidays per annum (plus bank holidays) (pro rata to hours worked)
  • Enhanced pension contributions (up to 6% of salary).
  • Active support for your professional learning and development, including funding relevant technical certifications and security aspects of the role.
  • Flexible and remote working (core hours 10:00 to 15:00), and other benefits.
  • Additional benefits include Cycle to Work, electric car scheme, dental cover.
  • Equipment and home-office setup provided
