IT Engineer | Telford | £40,000 – £50,000 + Benefits
Telford (two sites, about 10 minutes apart)
£40,000 – £50,000 per annum
Monday – Friday, 08:30 – 17:00, with occasional call-outs
Full-time, permanent
About the Role
We're recruiting on behalf of a leading global manufacturing business in Telford for an experienced IT Engineer to join their established IT team. This is a hands-on infrastructure role.
You'll keep VMware, Cisco and server environments secure, reliable and available across office and production environments, working alongside local and global IT teams and external suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain VMware ESXi/vSphere environments, including VM provisioning, snapshots, templates, patching and capacity planning
- Configure and maintain Cisco switches and routers: VLANs, trunking, routing, IOS upgrades and network hardening
- Support Windows and Linux servers, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Group Policy
- Carry out backup validation, recovery testing and disaster recovery testing
- Troubleshoot LAN, WAN, wireless and VPN issues
- Install and rack servers and network equipment, and handle break-fix and hardware replacement
- Apply security patches, remediate vulnerabilities and review system logs
- Coordinate upgrades and maintenance windows, and keep documentation and asset records up to date

What We're Looking For
- Experience in an infrastructure, systems or network engineering role, ideally in manufacturing or an industrial setting
- Hands-on VMware ESXi/vSphere administration (around 3 years preferred)
- Strong Cisco switching and routing knowledge (around 3 years preferred)
- Solid Windows Server and AD experience, plus working Linux knowledge
- Backup, DR and security patching experience
- Strong troubleshooting and communication skills
- VCP, CCNA or ITIL would be advantageous
