Senior IT Field Engineer
We are looking for a Senior IT Field Engineer to lead, support and develop a team of Field Engineers while taking responsibility for the quality of IT services delivered across a portfolio of sites.
This is a varied position where you’ll remain technically hands-on, supporting your own allocated sites, while also acting as the regional escalation point and ensuring the wider field engineering team delivers a consistently high standard of service.
The Role
As Lead IT Field Engineer, you will be responsible for coordinating field engineering activity across your region, ensuring sites receive the appropriate level of onsite IT support.
You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders, while supporting your team with technical escalations, mentoring and ongoing development.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing, mentoring and developing a team of IT Field Engineers
- Providing hands-on IT support across your own allocated sites
- Planning and coordinating site visits based on business requirements and support demand
- Acting as the key escalation point for IT issues across the region
- Proactively identifying recurring incidents and opportunities to improve IT services
- Managing incidents, problems and changes through an ITSM environment
- Supporting Windows-based end-user computing environments
- Troubleshooting LAN, WAN, wireless and connectivity issues
- Supporting PCs, laptops, tablets, smartphones, printers and other endpoint devices
- Working with technologies including Active Directory, Microsoft 365, WAN/LAN/VLAN and SD-WAN
- Coordinating third-party suppliers and other internal IT teams
- Supporting hardware installations, network configurations and site technology
- Providing IT support for new sites, acquisitions, expansions and reconfigurations
- Supporting IT projects, service transitions and technology refresh programmes
- Building strong relationships with senior business and operational stakeholders
- Monitoring service performance and using KPIs to identify areas for improvement

What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who combines a strong technical background with the ability to lead from the front.
You should have experience of:
- Managing or leading IT support / field engineering teams
- Mentoring and developing technical staff
- Delivering IT support across multiple geographical locations
- Windows operating systems and endpoint management
- Microsoft 365
- Active Directory and user management
- LAN, WAN and wireless networking
- Incident, problem and change management
- ITIL environments and service improvement
- Supporting end-user devices and associated hardware
- Working with third-party IT suppliers
- Managing technical escalations through to resolution
- Communicating with senior stakeholders, including Director-level contacts
- Working within Cyber Security policies and best practices

ITIL v4 Foundation and relevant Microsoft, networking or leadership qualifications would also be advantageous.
The role requires travel between sites within the region, flexibility around working locations and participation in an out-of-hours on-call service.
Our client are offering a salary of £41,000 plus £4,200 car allowance for the position.
