Job Description
Looking for a placement where you can apply your technology skills to real-world challenges and make a meaningful impact? At EDF, Success is Personal. Join our Information Technology (IT) Industrial Placement and help shape the digital solutions that support the future of low-carbon energy.
The Opportunity
This Information Technology Industrial Placement is expected to begin in early September 2027 and offers a starting salary of £26,050. You'll have the opportunity to gain valuable experience supporting technology solutions within one of the UK's most significant energy infrastructure programmes.
During this 12-month IT placement, you'll gain hands-on experience in a dynamic technology environment, working alongside experienced Solution Architects, Technical Architects, Security Architects and Project Teams. You'll contribute to innovative projects while developing skills that support a business driving the transition towards An Electric Britain.
What You’ll Experience
Being part of Hinkley Point C means helping to shape the future of low-carbon energy. You'll contribute to a project that will provide clean electricity for millions of homes while supporting the UK's energy security.
During your IT Industrial Placement, you'll gain exposure to the full solution lifecycle, from understanding business requirements and shaping technology solutions through to supporting governance and assurance activities. You'll work closely with experienced professionals while developing practical skills in technology architecture and solution design.
As part of the Technical Assurance team, you'll support the development of solution designs, architecture documentation and technical artefacts throughout the project lifecycle. You'll gain exposure to enterprise architecture, cloud technologies, systems integration and solution governance, while helping ensure technology solutions align with organisational standards, security requirements and strategic objectives.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
