PRINCIPAL MEDICAL LIMITED (PML) is a community-focused healthcare organization founded in 2004 by local GPs to deliver innovative NHS services. The company works with an extensive network of clinicians, including GPs and primary care counsellors, across Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire. PML focuses on integrated primary care, believing that local providers who understand their communities can deliver high-quality and cost-effective services. The organization develops services based on what patients need and want, ensuring appropriate care options for different circumstances. PML continues to grow, with an increasing number of employed staff and service contracts with local health professionals.
Role Description
The Information Technology Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Bicester, responsible for overseeing all aspects of PML’s IT infrastructure and systems. This role manages network and server operations, ensures data security and backup procedures, and supports clinical and administrative systems used across multiple sites. The Information Technology Manager coordinates IT projects, evaluates and implements new technologies, and maintains relationships with external vendors and service providers. Day-to-day responsibilities include supervising IT support activities, resolving technical issues, monitoring system performance, and ensuring compliance with relevant NHS and data protection standards. The role also involves developing IT policies, training staff on systems and best practices, and contributing to strategic planning to align technology with organizational goals.

Qualifications
- Strong skills in IT infrastructure management, including servers, networks, and hardware maintenance.
- Skills in systems administration and support, such as managing clinical and business applications, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring system uptime.
- Skills in cybersecurity and data protection, including access control, backup and recovery, and compliance with NHS and data privacy regulations.
- Skills in IT project management, including planning, implementation, vendor coordination, and documentation.
- Skills in stakeholder communication and collaboration, with the ability to work effectively with clinicians, administrators, and external partners.
- Relevant qualifications such as a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Professional certifications (e.g., ITIL, CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco) and experience in healthcare or NHS environments are highly beneficial.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a small IT team, prioritize workloads, and deliver reliable, user-focused technology solutions.

Skills & Knowledge
- Ability to lead, mentor, and develop an IT team.
- Asset management, change control, service standards, and operational budgeting.
- IT infrastructure including Microsoft 365, Active Directory, cloud services, networking, VPN, and cybersecurity controls.
- Able to lead multiple projects simultaneously with on-time, on-budget delivery.
- Analytical and troubleshooting abilities with root-cause analysis focus.
- Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical colleagues and reporting to senior management.
- Prioritising competing demands, managing team workload, and maintaining tight controls.
- Ability to build relationships across the organisation and with external suppliers.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with industry trends.
- Willingness to provide out-of-hours support during major incidents and assist with workload sharing.
- Valid driver's licence and access to own vehicle for travel to PML sites.
Salary - Circa £65,000 per annum
