IT Manager
Location: Telford
Salary: £55,000 – £65,000 per annum
Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 08:30 – 17:00
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent - Fixed-Term Contract Optional
Shift: 08:30 - 17:00, Monday - Friday. Occasional call-outs and standby required, compensated accordingly. Must be willing to work across two sites when required, alternate site approximately 10 minutes drive.
Job Description
We are recruiting for an experienced IT Manager to oversee and maintain IT infrastructure across both office and manufacturing environments. This is a hands-on management position responsible for ensuring systems remain secure, reliable and available, while supporting production requirements and wider business objectives.
The successful candidate will lead a small IT team, work closely with senior management and global IT functions, and manage external suppliers and technology projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage IT infrastructure including LAN/WAN networks, firewalls, servers, hardware and software.
- Ensure high availability and reliability of IT systems across office and manufacturing environments.
- Oversee ERP and business systems, ensuring they effectively support production operations.
- Support the integration of IT with manufacturing and shop-floor systems.
- Manage cybersecurity, data protection, malware protection and backup/disaster recovery procedures.
- Lead, train and mentor IT support staff.
- Manage external IT suppliers, vendors and service providers.
- Plan and deliver IT projects including system upgrades, cloud migrations and new technology installations.
- Manage IT budgets and identify opportunities to optimise technology costs.
- Ensure IT systems meet relevant data protection, security and industry requirements.
- Work closely with global IT teams on infrastructure, systems and manufacturing technology.
- Monitor system performance, incidents and service levels.
- Provide technical guidance and reporting to senior management.
- Support technology improvements that increase operational efficiency and reduce downtime.

Key Skills & Experience
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous IT management experience, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of Windows and Active Directory.
- Experience with network infrastructure, LAN/WAN, firewalls and servers.
- Knowledge of SQL databases and ERP systems.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
- Understanding of cybersecurity, data protection and disaster recovery.
- Experience managing and developing IT support teams.
- Strong project management and problem-solving skills.
- Experience managing IT budgets and external suppliers.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field is desirable.
- ITIL, PMP, CCNA or similar qualifications would be advantageous.
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for an experienced IT professional who can combine strong technical knowledge with effective team leadership and commercial awareness. You will be comfortable working between the office and manufacturing environment, supporting day-to-day IT requirements while also contributing to longer-term technology projects and improvements.
Working Hours & Requirements
- Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 17:00.
- Occasional out-of-hours call-outs will be required.
- Travel between the two Telford sites may be required.
- Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments.
