Senior IT Engineer (Education IT)

Location: Liverpool / Merseyside (Hybrid with local site travel)
Salary: £45,000 - £50,000

Following sustained growth, Brabner Fox has been retained to secure a hands-on IT Engineer in Liverpool. We deliver critical, managed IT infrastructure directly to schools, ensuring digital learning environments run flawlessly.

Bridging team leadership and hands-on delivery, you will lead a dedicated team of Liverpool-based IT Technicians. You will own senior client relationships with school leadership teams, oversee service desk operations, and act as the senior point of escalation for complex infrastructure projects.

  • Hands on Technical Leadership: Line-manage, schedule, and mentor a team of field technicians. Drive performance and support career development.
  • Education Tech stack: Windows network, AD, Group policy, Hyper-V, 365, Azure, Cloud Security
  • Service Delivery: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the service desk
  • Technical Escalation: 2nd/3rd line Engineer for Client issues & escalations
  • Compliance & Safeguarding: Oversee school ISP lines, security, web filtering, and firewalls
  • Account Management: Own senior relationships across selected schools, managing complaints and identifying commercial project opportunities.

Requirements

  • Leadership Experience: Proven track record managing or coordinating field technicians/service desk engineers (MSP or Education sector preferred).
  • Technical Breadth: Strong background in OS deployment, MDM licensing, and cloud systems architecture.
  • Communication: Exceptional relationship-building skills with the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical school staff.
  • Driving License: Full driving license & vehicle required for travel across Liverpool/Merseyside school sites.
