IT Project Manager (Infrastructure & Cyber Security OR Business Systems)
A permanent, hands-on delivery role at a global pharmaceutical manufacturer, leading either infrastructure and cyber security projects or business systems and IT change projects. Based in County Down, paying £45,000 to £55,000 DOE.
About the Company
Our client is a long-established veterinary pharmaceutical company and one of Northern Ireland's leading employers. They develop and manufacture medicines for markets in more than 100 countries. They invest heavily in R&D and launch new products every year, and that growth depends on a secure IT estate and business systems that fit how the company actually operates. They are hiring two IT Project Managers: one focused on infrastructure and cyber security, and one on business systems and IT delivery.
The Role
You will run IT projects from start to finish in a regulated manufacturing business. Depending on your background, that means one of two things. You might lead infrastructure and security projects worth up to £500k. Or you might lead business systems projects of up to £250k, working as the link between IT, the business and suppliers. Either way, you will own scope, budget, risk and governance. You will manage third party providers and keep senior stakeholders informed, and all delivery will follow GxP standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the full project lifecycle, from initiation and planning through execution, control and closure.
- Lead infrastructure and cyber security projects, or business systems and applications projects, depending on the role.
- Manage scope, schedule, budget, risk, dependencies and change control on every assigned project.
- Engage business stakeholders to understand their priorities and processes, and make sure solutions are practical, supportable and compliant.
- Manage third party IT service providers and suppliers, including contracting and performance.
- Put governance in place so the business can monitor delivery and track the benefits it expects.
- Report progress, risks and decisions to senior stakeholders, escalating where outcomes are at risk.
- Deliver all work in line with GxP requirements and the relevant SOPs.

What You'll Need
- Experience managing IT infrastructure or cyber security projects, OR experience leading full lifecycle IT projects with accountability for governance, change control and benefits realisation, is essential. This is the single most important thing we are looking for.
- Around 5 years' experience across IT, including 2 to 3 years in project management, is essential.
- Experience using a recognised project management methodology such as PRINCE2 or PMI is essential.
- Experience managing projects in a manufacturing OR pharmaceutical environment is essential.
- Experience working with and contracting third party IT service providers is essential.
- Confident communication with senior managers and with technical and non-technical audiences is essential.
- A formal project management certification (PRINCE2, PMI or equivalent) is highly advantageous.
- Experience delivering IT change in a regulated OR GxP environment is a strong advantage.
- Experience with the NIST OR ISO27001 security frameworks is a strong advantage for the infrastructure and cyber security role.
- Business analysis experience, such as running workshops, mapping processes and documenting requirements, is a strong advantage for the business systems role.
- Knowledge of CRM, SCM, ERP, MES OR LIMS systems is desirable.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification is desirable.
- A degree in Computer Science, IT, Cyber Security or a related subject is desirable, though equivalent work experience is equally valued.
