SENIOR IT PROJECT MANAGER

Role title: Senior IT Project Manager

Engagement type: Contractor

Location: United Kingdom

Seniority: Highly capable JG3 or JG2-equivalent

Business area: Cross Commodities & Supply Chain Operations

Contract duration: 6 months

Expected start date: 14th September

Role purpose

Information & Digital Engineering (IDE) is IDT’s digital delivery and capability engine, delivering technology and digital solutions that support competitive outcomes and Client’s Powering Progress strategy. Delivery Management strengthens project, programme and product delivery through consistent standards, assurance, tools and professional capability, working closely with business and technology teams.

The Senior IT Project Manager will take end-to-end accountability for the successful delivery of complex, high-risk or strategically important technology projects, or a coordinated set of delivery outcomes. The contractor will establish control quickly, create clarity across scope, plan, cost, dependencies and decisions, and lead a multidisciplinary team to deliver measurable business outcomes.

The role requires an experienced delivery leader who can combine disciplined project management with pragmatic Agile ways of working. The successful contractor will be comfortable operating with senior sponsors, navigating ambiguity, challenging constructively and making the status of delivery transparent so that risks and decisions are addressed early.

Key accountabilities

Ideally, candidates will bring experience working within logistics or commercial operations environments. Experience delivering projects across areas such as distribution operations, terminals, supply chain, transportation, contracts management/confirmations or other operationally complex environments would be particularly valuable.

End-to-end delivery leadership

  • Lead the project through the appropriate delivery lifecycle, from mobilisation and definition through execution, transition and closure.
  • Establish clear outcomes, scope, success measures, delivery milestones, ownership and acceptance criteria.
  • Build and lead a high-performing multidisciplinary team, creating shared accountability and removing obstacles to delivery.
  • Maintain focus on business value and ensure that priorities remain aligned with the agreed strategy and business case.
  • Adapt the delivery approach to the context, using Agile, Waterfall, iterative or predictive methods as appropriate rather than applying a single methodology mechanically.

Planning, control and financial management

  • Develop and maintain an integrated delivery plan covering scope, schedule, resources, costs, dependencies, quality, assurance and transition activities.
  • Own project financial management, including forecasting, cost tracking, variance analysis and timely corrective action.
  • Manage scope through structured change control, ensuring that impacts on value, cost, schedule, risk and resources are understood before decisions are made.
  • Ensure that plans and forecasts remain realistic, evidence-based and aligned with delivery capacity.
  • Establish proportionate controls that provide confidence without creating unnecessary delivery overhead.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
