IT Project Manager

Location: Hove or Telford (or within a 1-hour commute)
Contract: 12 Month Fixed-Term Contract (with a strong view to becoming permanent)
Security Clearance: BPSS Eligibility Required
Salary: Competitive + Benefits

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced IT Project Manager to join our growing delivery team and lead the successful delivery of a large-scale, business-critical technology transformation programme within the public sector.

This is an exciting opportunity for a consultant-minded Project Manager who thrives in complex stakeholder environments and has a proven track record of delivering large IT projects from initiation through to implementation. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing project scope, timelines, budgets, risks, governance, and stakeholder engagement while ensuring successful delivery outcomes.

Working alongside senior business and technical stakeholders, you will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, drive project governance, and ensure delivery remains aligned to strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of large-scale IT and digital transformation projects.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource forecasts.
  • Manage project risks, issues, dependencies, and change controls.
  • Coordinate cross-functional technical and business teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and provide regular status reporting.
  • Facilitate governance forums, steering groups, and project review meetings.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, budget, and quality expectations.
  • Track project milestones, benefits realisation, and key performance indicators.
  • Support procurement, vendor management, and third-party supplier engagement where required.
  • Promote best practice project management methodologies and continuous improvement across delivery teams.

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years' consultancy experience delivering IT projects for clients.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale technology or digital transformation programmes.
  • Strong understanding of project management frameworks and methodologies, including Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery approaches.
  • Experience managing project budgets, timelines, governance, and senior stakeholder relationships.
  • Ability to operate confidently within complex and fast-paced delivery environments.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong risk, issue, and dependency management experience.
  • Eligibility to obtain BPSS clearance is mandatory.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience delivering projects within government, public sector, or highly regulated environments.
  • Professional certifications such as PRINCE2, PMP, AgilePM, MSP, or equivalent.
  • Experience managing multiple workstreams and third-party suppliers.
  • Knowledge of cloud, data, enterprise applications, or digital transformation programmes.
