IT Security Operations Engineer (SecOps)

Location: London (Hybrid) - 2 days a week
Type: Permanent
Salary: Competitive + Benefits

A rapidly growing organisation is looking for an experienced Security Operations Engineer to join its Cyber Security team. This is a hands-on role focused on strengthening security operations, improving cloud security controls, and responding to security incidents across a modern Microsoft-centric environment.

The Opportunity

You'll work closely with Cyber Security, Infrastructure, and IT teams to enhance security capabilities, improve compliance, and support ongoing security transformation initiatives. This role offers exposure to Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS, and enterprise security operations in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and enhance Microsoft 365 security controls.
  • Administer and optimise Microsoft Defender for Office 365 policies.
  • Develop and improve Conditional Access, MFA, and device compliance controls through Intune.
  • Support Cyber Essentials Plus and wider security compliance initiatives.
  • Monitor and respond to security incidents escalated through external security operations services.
  • Perform incident triage, investigation, root cause analysis, and remediation activities.
  • Work with internal IT teams to implement security improvements and best practices.
  • Support the delivery of ISO 27001 and ISO 42001 security controls.
  • Create and maintain security documentation and knowledge base articles.
  • Develop automation through PowerShell and related scripting technologies.
  • Produce regular security operations and security posture reporting.

Experience Required

  • 5+ years' experience within Security Operations, Cyber Security, or Incident Response.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 Security technologies.
  • Experience with Microsoft Defender, Intune, Conditional Access, and identity security.
  • Understanding of Azure and AWS cloud security.
  • Strong Windows security and hardening experience.
  • PowerShell scripting experience.
  • Experience supporting enterprise IT infrastructure environments.
  • Security certifications such as Security+, CEH, Microsoft Security certifications, or equivalent.
