Role Overview
We are looking for an IT Field Technician to support and maintain a distributed IT environment across multiple locations. The role will be responsible for maintaining infrastructure, resolving hardware and software issues, supporting users and helping ensure reliable operation of core IT systems.
The position will involve a combination of hands-on technical support, infrastructure maintenance, troubleshooting and site-based work.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and support computer systems, wireless infrastructure, switches, routers, desktops and peripherals.
- Support datacentre infrastructure and associated network connectivity.
- Install, configure, diagnose, repair, maintain and upgrade IT hardware and equipment.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software and connectivity issues and resolve faults within appropriate timescales.
- Provide technical assistance and guidance to end users where required.
- Support users across multiple locations, including remote users.
- Work closely with the IT Support Manager and wider IT team on infrastructure and support activities.
- Travel between different sites to provide hands-on technical support and complete infrastructure-related tasks.
- Install and configure new IT equipment and assist with technology refresh and upgrade projects.
- Research and recommend new technologies where appropriate to improve existing IT systems.

Experience
- Minimum of 1 year's experience working in an IT support or infrastructure role.
- Recent experience in an IT support environment.
- Experience supporting multiple sites and remote users.
- Strong hardware troubleshooting and fault-finding experience.
- Experience supporting server environments, particularly Windows Server 2012 R2 / 2016.
- Practical knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP.
- Experience with Mac OS X and iOS.
- Experience with VMware ESXi / vSphere.
- Knowledge of networking protocols and standards.
- Experience with MPLS / VPLS technologies.
- Experience supporting datacentre infrastructure and connectivity.
- Familiarity with common business applications and end-user software.
Technical Skills
The successful candidate should have experience across a broad IT infrastructure environment, including: Windows Server | Active Directory | Group Policy | DNS | DHCP | VMware ESXi | VMware vSphere | Networking | MPLS | VPLS | Wireless Infrastructure | Switches | Routers | Desktop Hardware | Peripherals | Mac OS X | iOS
Experience with creative/design software such as Adobe and Serif packages would also be beneficial.

Qualifications
- 5 GCSEs or equivalent.
- A Levels or equivalent, or evidence of working towards an IT-related qualification.
- Relevant IT certifications or qualifications would be advantageous.

Working Arrangements
- Full UK driving licence required.
- Primarily site-based with regular travel to other UK locations.
- Company vehicle available for travel between sites.
- Flexibility around working hours may occasionally be required depending on business and operational requirements.
