Role Summary
HCLTech is seeking an experienced Informix 4GL and .NET Developer to support core application development, maintenance, production support, and modernization initiatives. The role requires strong hands-on technical capability across legacy 4GL platforms and modern Microsoft.NET technologies, with the ability to analyze existing application logic, support business-critical systems, and contribute to secure, scalable, and high-performing solution delivery. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate technical ownership, delivery discipline, production stability focus, and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams including business, infrastructure, DBA, testing, and support teams.
Key Responsibilities
Application Development and Maintenance
- Develop, enhance, and maintain Informix 4GL programs, modules, forms, reports, and batch processes.
- Analyse and modify ALPS application logic, workflows, interfaces, and business rules in line with approved requirements.
- Ensure application changes are designed, developed, tested, and implemented with appropriate quality controls.
Database and Performance Management
- Write, maintain, and optimise Informix SQL queries, stored logic, and database interactions.
- Support SQL tuning, performance analysis, data validation, and reconciliation across integrated systems.
- Work with DBA and infrastructure teams to resolve database-related incidents and performance bottlenecks.

Modernization and.NET Integration
- Contribute to application modernization by analysing legacy business logic and supporting migration or integration with.NET-based solutions.
- Design and develop hybrid solutions involving Informix 4GL,.NET, APIs, and supporting integration components.
Production Support and Troubleshooting
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve production incidents, application defects, batch failures, and performance issues.
- Provide timely root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive recommendations for recurring issues.
- Support recovery activities for failed jobs, file processing issues, and operational exceptions within agreed timelines.
Batch, Unix/Linux, and Operational Support
- Create, monitor, and support batch jobs, file transfers, scheduling activities, and operational processing routines.
- Use Unix/Linux commands and shell scripting to automate operational tasks and support application maintenance activities.
Quality, Governance, and Compliance
- Perform unit testing, peer reviews, defect resolution, and implementation validation to ensure quality delivery.
- Adhere to HCLTech delivery standards, SDLC controls, change management, release management, security, and audit requirements.
Documentation and Collaboration
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, knowledge transition materials, solution designs, support guides, and operational runbooks.
- Collaborate with business users, QA, DBA, infrastructure, application support, and project teams to deliver stable and sustainable solutions.

Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum 10+ years of relevant experience in application development, maintenance, and production support.
- Strong hands-on experience in Informix 4GL or comparable legacy 4GL technologies, including application logic, forms, reports, and batch processes.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft.NET technologies including C#,.NET Core, ASP.NET, Web API development, and integration services.
- Good understanding of relational databases including Informix, SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL, with practical experience in SQL development and tuning.
- Working knowledge of software engineering practices including design patterns, SOLID principles, code reviews, source control, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery models and ITIL-aligned production support environments.
