This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced IT professional to take on a varied role spanning infrastructure, technical support, networking, and cyber security. Working closely with the Chief Information Officer (CIO), you’ll play an important role in maintaining and improving the Group’s technology infrastructure, while helping to ensure our systems remain secure, reliable, and fit for continued growth.

You’ll also act as a key technical escalation point for the IT team, providing guidance and mentorship to IT Technicians and supporting the delivery of infrastructure and software projects across the Group.

Where you’ll be:

You’ll be based primarily at our Derby office in Alvaston. The role will also involve periodic travel to other Sort Group sites, with approximately two visits to each site per year alongside additional ad-hoc travel where required to support projects and infrastructure requirements.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting the CIO with the planning, project management, and delivery of IT projects and services
  • Maintaining high availability, scalability, and security across the Group’s IT infrastructure
  • Providing technical support for IT infrastructure, hardware, telephony, and conferencing systems
  • Supporting the implementation and integration of new software tools
  • Managing user accounts, licenses, and access rights
  • Managing the acquisition, replacement, and removal of IT assets
  • Supporting and managing IT Service Desk operations
  • Acting as a technical escalation point for complex or high-impact issues
  • Providing technical mentorship and sharing knowledge with members of the IT team
  • Keeping the business informed with clear and timely updates during IT outages
  • Identifying trends and recurring issues and implementing infrastructure and process improvements
  • Proactively monitoring the security posture of the Group’s IT infrastructure, including patching, security bulletins, and periodic scanning
  • Providing employees with updates on existing and emerging cyber security threats
  • Developing and delivering cyber security training and testing for employees
  • Supporting the CIO with ISO27001 and Cyber Essentials audits
  • Travelling periodically to the Group’s other offices to support infrastructure, security, and project requirements

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
